How to Create a Bumble bee Costume

Bumble Bees, here is a quick and cheap instruction guide to make your recession bumble bee costume.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Ribbons
Antennae On A Headband
Black Pants
RIT Dyes
Thick Black Tape
Yellow And Black Face Paints
Bumble Bee Costumes

Step1

Lay a yellow sweatshirt out flat and attach black tape in horizontal stripes running across the front. Place a stripe every 2 inches. Turn the sweatshirt over and repeat the process on the back.

Step2

Put on black pants and black shoes.

Step3

Put your sweatshirt on with the hood up. Tighten the hood so that it frames your face and all your hair is hidden.

Step4

Place the antennae headband on your head over the hood.

Step5

Draw yellow and black stripes on your face using yellow and black face paint.

1. Future Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway Bike Tour!

Join Brooklyn Greenway Initiative for the 7th annual spring bike tour along the planned greenway route! It's a 10-mile ride at a family pace, from Newtown Creek in Greenpoint to the spectacular waterfront in Red Hook.

2. Western Queens Community Garden Bike Tour

Join the Queens Compost Project of Queens Botanical Garden for a tour of Green Thumb community gardens and their composting techniques (or potential) in Western Queens. Bike ride will start at the Long Island City Community Garden (49th Avenue between 5th St and Vernon Blvd) and will visit at least four community gardens. The ride will end at the Reuse & Recyclefest Block Party.

3. Little Red Lighthouse Ride

Enjoy the Hudson River Greenway as we cycle up from 79th Street's Boat Basin to the famed Little Red Lighthouse. This spectacular Lighthouse was preserved in the 1940's due to a popular children's story by Hildegarde Swift and the public outcry from the love of the Lighthouse. Come see why it is so special (we won't be able to go inside the Lighthouse but can see it from afar). For information on days that the Little Red Lighthouse is open to the public visit the New York City Park's Department website.

Join the most civic cyclists in town for a fun, free, leisurely and historical bicycle ride from North to South Brooklyn and back. Travel along America's first urban bicycle lane, traverse various "deep Brooklyn 'hoods" and end at Dead Horse Bay, aka Bottle Beach. After a rest, we'll return the way we came. End at the City Reliquary for a beer and pizza party. About 20 miles round trip. Bring shoes you can get dirty.

Learn to Ride before the big event

Adults! Free class teaching a safe, easy, effective way to learn to ride; participants learn the basics of balancing, starting, stopping, and steering a bike as well as proper helmet fit and adjustment. You can either bring your own or borrow a bike and helmet while supplies last from Bike New York.

June 13th Bumble Bees will take over the Williamsburg bridge

Make your own bumble bee costume, grab your bike, helmet, honey pots and lets ride over the Williamsburg bridge. You have to wear a costume or something that honors the bumble bee spirit; yellow and black strip socks are acceptable. Be creative, please come in something bumble beeish.

Why ride over the bridge in a bumble bee costume? because bees are great, I love honey and I eat B pollen, I think it would be fun to ride over the bridge with a group of people in bumble bee costumes and also to raise money for Imani House adult literacy program.

This is not a race just a nice bike stroll. Bikers share the lane with pedestrians on the bridge so we have to be alert to the people on feet.

Bring your cameras, smiles, warmth, beauty, friends and love. If you would like to bring your instruments please do, I'm sure bumble bees love music.

We gather at the Manhattan side at 4pm and ride over the bridge at 5pm.If you would love to help with this event please contact me.

As part of my bumble bee ride I will try to fundraise money for Imani House adult literacy program where I volunteer. I am asking everyone one who plans on coming if you can donate $5 or more to this great program. If you don't have any money to donate please don't worry, please show up, please still come, please bring your friends.
